US Monthly Update

US – update through March 2020

Oil production from these wells set another record in November, at over 7.6 million bo/d (after upcoming revisions). The over 10 thousand horizontal wells that came online in 2019 contributed half of this supply (3.8 million bo/d), as is visualized by the dark blue area in the graph above.

Eagle Ford – update through March 2020

March oil production hovered at around 1.34 million bo/d, the same level as since the start of the year (after upcoming revisions). As is shown by the colored areas in the chart above, over half of production in March came from wells that started producing since 2019.

Permian Monthly Update

Permian – update through March 2020

In March, about 4.1 million bo/d was produced from horizontal wells in the Permian (after upcoming revisions). The impact of the low prices only started to become visible in the following month, although, based on preliminary data (available in our subscription services), the drop appears to have been less than e.g. in North Dakota.

Pennsylvania – update through April 2020

Natural gas production remained unchanged at 19.3 Bcf/d in April. Compared with the peak in November (19.7 Bcf/d), production was down by 2%. Only 180 new horizontal wells came online in the first 4 months this year, the lowest number in the past decade.

Bakken Monthly Update

North Dakota – update through April 2020

North Dakota oil production fell by 200 thousand bo/d in April to 1.2 million bo/d, the largest m-o-m decline to date. This was of course all related to the disastrous oil price during the month (WTI at $16) and operators decided to shut in many wells.

US Monthly Update

US – update through February 2020

Tight oil production in these states declined slightly in the first 2 months of this year, before the start of the latest oil crisis. I expect that after upcoming revisions, production for February will come in at about 8 million bo/d.

Eagle Ford Monthly Update

Eagle Ford – update through February 2020

February oil production fell by 1%  m-o-m, to just over 1.3 million bo/d. Although natural gas production fell by a similar amount to 6.5 Bcf/d, it has held up better over the years, due to lower decline rates (toggle “product” to gas to see this).

Niobrara (CO & WY) – update through February 2020

These interactive presentations contain the latest oil & gas production data, from all 10,287 horizontal wells that started production in Colorado and Wyoming since 2009/2010, through January. Oil production in these 2 states started the year at record production (after revisions), at over 620 thousand bo/d. Both states contributed to the growth in the past 12 months; Colorado with ~20%, and Wyoming even at almost 50% (although from a lower base). Production in the Powder River Basin has been mostly responsible for the latter, and is now at over 120 thousand bo/d.
